Not much, as we recently discovered at Sibu Beauty road testing a Microhydrabrasion and an indulgent ProSkin 60 facial, a customised treatment with advanced product and techniques in the most soothing environment made for results and relaxation.
A full service beauty salon in two popular Northside locations of Crace and Nicholls, Sibu Beauty offers everything from waxing, Dermalogica facials, Pure Fiji body treatments, Swedish, Balinese and hot stone therapy massage, manicures and pedicures, spray tanning to Napoleon Perdis make-up for formals and weddings.
Owner Amanda Rutledge
Owner Amanda Rutledge shared, “I am a mother of 2 adult children so my husband and I are learning what life is like when children don’t need us as much. I started my working life as a debt collector, I moved into the public service and was there for almost 15 years. I was inspired to do what I had always wanted to do by my daughter so I worked full time and studied at nights. Half way through my diploma, I was made redundant, I studied part time (nights) and full time (days) before getting my first job as a beauty therapist in a busy salon in the city. I then bought the salons in July of 2015. I have a passion of skin and all things that will make you feel good about yourself. Basically, I love my job because I feel that everyone deserves a little pamper at some stage no matter what the treatment.”
“Nicholls salon has been around for around 16 years while Crace is only new opening in 2013. They are traditional full service beauty salons. We have staff that specialise in specific treatments while still covering all other treatments. Making sure that our staff have a passion for what they do means they do it to the highest standards.”
Amanda revealed that she has her eyes on the future, keeping abreast of all the new developments in the beauty world, saying “We will remain a full service beauty salon proving amazing services across each of the treatments. We are however moving with technology. We have purchased machinery so we can provide more advanced level of service as well and achieve greater outcomes for our clients. We recognise that the world of beauty is changing and we are really excited to provide results based treatments that can also be relaxing if the client chooses. So in short, we will be a full service beauty salon that specialises in skin treatments.”
As for being part of the close knit Northside communities, Sibu Beauty calls home, Amanda said, “I love that I can change direction to do what the clients are asking for. Being the place that puts smiles on the faces of the clients from getting pampered from facials to pedicures or even waxing and when we have helped them with skin conditions by using treatments like needling and IPL or laser. That no matter the treatment or the amount of time the client is with us, it could be their only down time for the day and they choose to spend it with us. The satisfaction that my small business has helped so many people in feeling good about themselves.”
