Have you ever wanted to have real influence over what your favourite restaurant or café serves? Trev’s Taste Collective is back this year, and you have an opportunity to play a part in deciding what dishes become a part of Trev’s taste Collective Menu.
We visited today in preparation for next week’s public tasting and made our own trio of tempting sweet, savoury and healthy options.
Our first trio consisted of a stack of buttermilk hotcakes with the apple cinnamon crumble and vanilla gelati, the avocado bruschetta with preserved lemon ricotta and dukkah, and the potted tropical bircher muesli with seasonal fruit and raspberry gelati. The sweetness and savoury aspect was perfectly balanced in this trio of contrasting textures.
Our second trio was the brioche french toast with bacon, maple and mascarpone, the single egg benny with spinach (because who can go past a benny?), and the two fresh fruits with natural yoghurt and kaffir lime. You have the option of swapping out the spinach in the egg benny for ham or smoked salmon. In this trio though I feel it would have unbalanced the dish. If ordering this combination, I recommend avoiding the temptation to eat the fruit first as I did, and end with it as a perfect neutral end to this trio.
The public choice tasting will happen this Saturday and Sunday, and to take part it is recommended you book ahead.
